About the Ride:

Bike Out Hunger – Bridge the Gap has several riding options. All are great routes doing great good.
Please read the options well…lots of moving parts.

Bridging the gap means different things to different people, but it’s never easy. For a cyclist, it’s pedalling harder to catch a breakaway. For kids in low income family units, it’s often bridging the gap from Friday’s school lunch to Monday’s school breakfast.

Option 1
Day 1 and 2 of Bike Out Hunger – Bridge the Gap, Saturday, November 7 and Sunday, November 8. 7:00 am (ish) start (pending on daylight).
The long option is a two-day awesome-filled ride on November 7 and 8. On November 7, we ride 132 miles from The Bear Mountain Bike Shop on Baylor’s campus (1700 S 5th St. Waco, TX 76706) in Waco to north Austin. On November 8 we ride 80-ish miles from Austin to Fredericksburg. Both days are fully supported with SAG and chartered motor coach and bike portage from Austin to Waco on Friday afternoon November 6; and back to Austin or Waco from Fredericksburg on Sunday, November 8.
Saturday night we are having a party and live music by Austin musician Giulia Millanta (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMROcdjJG70) at the Lord of Life Lutheran Church (9700 Neenah Ave, Austin, TX 78717). We’re providing the food and beverages…
Cost: $175 until September 5, then $200
Includes: ride fee, t-shirt, Friday night supper in Waco, Saturday morning breakfast, Saturday night supper in Austin, Sunday morning breakfast, chartered motor coach from Austin to Waco on Friday afternoon and back to Austin and/or Waco on Sunday evening, SAG and stretch points, finishing line nutrition and hydration and the satisfaction of knowing you helped feed hungry kids.

Option 2
Day 1 of Bike Out Hunger – Bridge the Gap, Saturday, November 7, 7:00 am (ish) start time
This single-day ride option is the 132-mile ride from The Bear Mountain Bike Shop (1700 S 5th St. Waco, TX 76706) on Baylor’s campus in Waco to Austin on November 7. The chartered motor coach will take you and your bike back to Waco Saturday evening. Those of you who live in Austin and want to ride from Waco to Austin will be able to take this bus from Lord of Life Lutheran Church (9700 Neenah Ave, Austin, TX 78717) up to Waco on Friday afternoon, November 6 and stay at the Hotel Indigo (make your own reservations using Bike Out Hunger).

Option 3
Day 2 of Bike Out Hunger – Bridge the Gap. Sunday, November 8; 7:00 am (ish) start time
The almost-almost-as-long single-day ride is an 80-mile ride from Austin to Fredericksburg. The hotel we are using for the evening and the morning start point on November 8 is La Quinta (10701 Lakeline Mall Dr. Austin, TX 78717). It’s a nice LQ… The chartered motor coach will take you and your bike back to this hotel Austin on Sunday evening on it’s way back to Waco.

Option 4
Local routes on November 7 in Waco consisting of 20, 40 and 60-mile options leaving from The Bear Mountain shop on Baylor University’s campus (1700 S 5th St. Waco, TX 76706). 7:30 am (ish) start time
Cost: $50 until September 5, then $65
Includes: ride fee, t-shirt, Friday night supper, SAG and stretch points, finishing line nutrition and hydration and the satisfaction of knowing you helped feed hungry kids.

Concert Only Option $10 (included for all participants and volunteers)

Hotel Accommodations
Block opens in August.
The host hotel in Waco is the Hotel Indigo in Waco where we’ll stay on Friday night, October 9. The host hotel in Austin is the La Quinta Inn & Suites (10701 Lakeline Mall Dr. Austin, TX 78717) where we’ll stay on Saturday night, October 10. To make your reservation for either or both hotel nights, please contact the hotel directly and use Bike Out Hunger as the discount code. The bus will return riders to these locations.

Fundraising
We are raising funds for Feed the Family. We’ll have fundraising goals and prizes. The top fundraiser gets to be on TV with me as we present the check on November 20.
To participate, be sure to set up a fundraising platform in Active.com and share it with your friends and family. We are doing great good.
