Event: Burn your Buns Bike Ride

Route Distances : 20, 31 and 62 Miles

About the Ride:

14th-Annual Charity Bike Ride

Cyclists took to the streets and through the rolling hills of
Willis and Conroe early Saturday morning on July 4th at the 14th
Annual “Burn Your Buns” Bike Ride to benefit Bridgewood Farms with 503 registered riders.

Riders from local bike clubs and seasoned cyclists rode the 20, 31, or 62 mile (loop twice) course along tree lined streets and rolling hills in Willis. Many participants “doubled the fun” by going down and out twice to cover the 62 miles. The majority of participants participate traditionally every year from The Woodlands Cycling Club and The Mules Cycling Club. Volunteers were there early to check in participants, help at rest stations, or assist with safety on road including The Lake Conroe Rotary, attorney Mike McDougal, law enforcement from Pct. 1 Constable Cash and Pct. 2 Constable Gene DeForest,
along with the Montgomery County Hospital District.

Presented by The Woodlands Cycling Club (WCC), and the Lake Conroe Rotary Club, the Diamond Sponsor was Jeffrey Tacy and Marissa Gonzalez. Gold Sponsors are Troy Construction, Borden, and Congressman Kevin Brady. Silver Sponsors-Cannon Custom Homes, Lynch Signs, Tom and Mary Krolczyk, Westbound Bank, Optimal Process Solutions, Law office of Kelly Chavez, Law Office of Mike McDougal, Ed and Robbi Turek, Shannon Jewelers, Sheri, Stacy, and Bill Brown;
Paula,  Jerry, and Jody Shumpert;  and Pam, Davey, and Sky Holak. Bronze Sponsors were Wiesner Automotive, Quest Engineering, Kris McBride Accounting Services, Oakcrest Farms, LLC, Justice of the Peace, Pct. 1 Wayne Mack; and many individuals- Rita and Jimmy
Schumacher; Jessica and Devin Teasdale; James and Nan O’Hare; Beverly and Gary Ward; Rick, Natalie, and Sarah Meidel; and Helen Schwisow.

All the organizations work together to ensure the success of
the ride by recruiting law enforcement, volunteers, and the Montgomery County Hospital District to monitor the route.
Both Mike McDougal and WCC have supported the bike ride since its inception in January 2004. The WCC takes responsibility for the ride route, TXDOT approvals, and all promotion to cycling clubs. Steve Schoger of the WCC
ensures that all major intersections the cyclists cross have a pointer on the route.
