About the Ride: One of Bicycle Sport Shop’s most popular events (and the biggest ride in the Bicycle Sport Shop Signature Cycling Series) rolls through the scenic hills of Blanco, in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, on Saturday, May 19, 2012. It’s a ride for all levels, with distances of 15, 30, 50, 65 and 80 miles. Routes are fully supported and all end at the Real Ale brewery for a post-ride celebration with local beer and barbecue. Register and start preparing for this premiere Hill Country cycling experience with group rides, maintenance classes, and tips and special pre-ride events from Bicycle Sport Shop.
To prepare for the Real Ale Ride and offer opportunities to engage with other cyclists before the ride, Bicycle Sport Shop will offer free training rides with Austin Cycle Camp; bike maintenance classes at all three of its stores, including women-only classes; and orientations for first-time riders. Dates for all pre-ride events are on the ride web site (www.realaleride.com).
The Real Ale Ride’s $60 registration fee includes a fully supported route, parking at the brewery, a barbecue lunch, Real Ale, live entertainment, brewery tours, a Real Ale Ride T-shirt and a whole lot of fun. All event profits will benefit Blanco beneficiary The Hill Country Children’s Advocacy Center (HCCAC), a non-profit organization created to minimize the trauma of child abuse victims.
