Event: 14th Annual Moritz Ride for Heroes

Routes Distance8, 23, 39, 58, and 70 miles

The routes will not be supported after 3:30 PM. Please pick a route distance that you can complete comfortably within that time.

About the Ride: Join us for the annual Moritz Ride for Heroes, a bike ride thru Parker County, supporting local organizations that protect and serve!

We have five scenic routes, ranging from 8 miles through 70 miles. And since the ride is in mid-April, Bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrushes should be in bloom! Your entry fee includes a post-ride lunch of grilled hamburger or hot dog, chips, and drink.  The start and finish lines are on the Aledo High School campus at 1000 Bailey Ranch Road, Aledo, Texas 76008. ( Directions)

Parking:

Adequate parking is available at the Aledo High School. Please make sure you arrive in plenty of time to get parked and ready to ride. See Directions page for specific travel information.

Maps and route markings:

Individual route maps for 2015 are published on the RideWithGPS website. View all routes on one map here. Maps, GPX, and TCX files are also available from the individual route pages. Please come prepared. There may not be maps available at the registration area. However, you should not need a map. We take great care in marking our routes clearly. You will find roadside signs, orange arrows on the road and volunteers to help you along the way. If you need assistance, you can call 817-613-7990 for SAG.

What to expect when riding in East Parker County:

Many people who ride here for the first time are surprised at the number of hills. Parker County is not flat. Bring your climbing legs. The roads are a combination of smooth state highways and county roads. Heavy truck traffic associated with gas drilling has been tough on our roads. We do try and pick the best roads possible for both safety and comfort; however, you will experience some rough areas, possible pot holes and chip seal that cannot be avoided. Most of the roads are comfortable to ride on.

Rest Stops:

The Ride for Heroes is proud of our rest stops. We have clubs and organizations from Aledo High School and from the community responsible for decorating and handing out goodies so there is no shortage of friendly faces at each stop. Each rest stop will have the basics including oranges, bananas, water and sports drink. Most rest stops will also feature other goodies including homemade cookies. All rest stops are manned by an EMT.

WheelBrothers at Ride for Heroes 2011

WheelBrothers at Ride for Heroes 2011The Wheelbrothers had a great time at this years ‘Ride for Heroes’!  Unlike the last several years,  the weather finally cooperated.  Due to some family issues,  we could only do the 44 mile route this year but we’ll be back for more next year.
