Event: T-Mobile Wallis Independence Ride
Route Distances: 12, 23, 42 and 63 miles
About the Ride:
The 10th Annual Independence Ride is a bicycling ride honoring our nation’s severely injured heroes. Watch a short clip of the ride here. This year we expect over 150 disabled veterans and caregivers to join the throngs of over 1000 able bodied local riders in the ride.
There will be four routes to chose from with distances of 12, 23, 42 and 63 miles. Following the ride, join the veterans for a BBQ Chicken lunch and enjoy the music entertainment.
Registration on the day of the ride begins at 6:30am. Opening ceremonies begin at 8:00am. Come early as the veterans look forward to the warm reception they always receive from the citizens of Wallis, the Schlumberger Cycling Club and all the cyclists who come and join them for this special ride.
All proceeds remaining after event expenditures will be applied towards the Independence Fund’s mission of moving our nation’s wounded heroes toward greater independence.
Official Ride Jerseys will be on sale at event for $70 each. The event also hosts a terrific Silent Auction where buyers can get great deals on meals, hotels, sporting events, etc. while supporting the Independence Fund. If you are interested in joining the veterans in a fun filled evening after the ride, you are also invited to come whoop it up at the Redneck Country Club. Stay tuned for ticket availability.
