About the Race:

24 Hours in the Canyon is a team or individual event in which participants can ride as far as their inspiration takes them.  Riders are encouraged to set a personal and/or team goal of the amount of time they will ride.

Beneficiaries: 90% of all funds raised from this event will be staying in Amarillo to help patients at The Don and Sybil Harrington Cancer Center

The ride will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2009, with all rides beginning at 8 A.M. Start and finish will be held at the CORYELL ACTIVITIES COMPLEX on Hwy. 84, just east of the intersection of TX Loop 36 and US Hwy. 84. There are highway signs to direct you to the Complex.

Lengths of rides include: 10-mile, 30-mile, 50-mile, and 100K (62.5 miles). All routes will be paved country roads. WE REQUIRE ALL PARTICIPANTS TO WEAR HELMETS AND SAFETY GEAR. Sag Stations will be provided. There are no repair facilities on site. We also strongly urge all riders to carry water bottles during the ride.

About the Race:

The Cross Plains VFD Bicycle Tour is a leisure ride along FM Road and I-20 Access Road.  It will include small hills, turns, flat stretches, and lots of nice scenery.  All of the roads are paved and maintained.

All routes travel over paved Farm to Market Roads.  There are rest stops every ten miles or so.  DPS and Sheriff’s Deputies will patrol the area.  All routes are clearly market and have SAG support, as well as basic first aid.

Entry Fees Per Route:

$25 each. Family Discount Fee, 4 or more (parent(s) and children under age 17) residing at the same address and paid with one check…each member $20. Corporate Discount, 8 or more riders from same organization (will be recognized at ride) each rider $20, entries must be sent together. After June 22, no family or corporate discounts — each entrant $30

Beneficiary: Each year’s “Rider’s Dollars” are deeply appreciated and extremely important to Waxahachie Rotary and the community as a whole. In return, we work quite hard to see that those dollars are “well invested” in improving the quality of life in the Waxahachie community.

About the Race: Our ride is not a race, and will consist of 10, 19, 36, 46, 75 and 100 mile tours on a well marked course. The 10 mile is a leisurely in-town tour of historic Waxahachie, with unique “Gingerbread Homes” and “National Historical Register Landmarks”, such as the octagon-shaped Chautauqua Auditorium in Getzendaner Park and the Ellis County Courthouse. All ages can participate with confidence of a safe ride.

This years in town ride will also utilize part of the new Hike ‘n Bike Trail that Waxahachie has opened, the ride will also go through the downtown area and if you want you may stop and eat or shop in the many antiques and arts & crafts shops around the square. This is an ideal ride for beginners, children and families seeking a fun morning together.

  • Rest stops will be approximately every 10 to 12 miles, however on the 75 and 100 mile routes some of the rest stops are further apart.
  • Portable toilets will be provided at numerous locations.
  • Water, fruit, Electrolyte, honey and other snacks and liquid will be provided at each rest stop.
  • The routes pass through several small towns where riders may purchase food and drink.
  • Free drinks, cookies, fruit and other items will be provided at the finish line.
  • For your safety and convenience, all SAG wagons, rest stops, and the start/finish command post will be tied together by radio.
  • SAG wagons will provide water, road assistance and transport for those unable to finish.
  • Please be prepared to handle your own flats and minor repairs. Mechanical SAG Wagons from area bike shops will be on hand to provide assistance.
  • Baylor Medical Center — Ellis County and East Texas EMS will provide medical personnel and emergency assistance at start/ finish area.
  • Sports Massages will be available at the finish line, after the ride. They will help reduce sprains, strains and soreness. It works!!! Nominal Fee.
