The Byers Bicycle Bash II is the second annual 100 km recreational bicycle ride through scenic Clay County. The Byers Bicycle Bash is considered “A Warm-up for the Warm-ups” for Hotter-N-Hell 100.

The Red Riders are ANY participants in the Tour de Cure who are living with diabetes, type 1 or type 2. If you have diabetes, YOU ARE A RED RIDER!  We want the riders with diabetes on the course to be readily visible to all other riders and to each other. We want to encourage people with diabetes to be visible and proud. The ride itself is the affirmation of your courage and perseverance. Make a difference in the fight against diabetes.

Riders with diabetes (Red Riders) are welcome to join the team “Team Red” which is a team of riders with diabetes AND family, friends and supporters of people with diabetes.  You don’t have to diabetes to join Team Red, just have a passion to raise funds to find a cure!

This event offers a great weekend of cycling and fun through beautiful hill country, as well as the personal satisfaction of completing a ride and doing your part in the fight against diabetes. Whether you’re a novice, an occasional rider or expert cyclist, we have a route that matches your ability.

Our routes feature full-service rest stops as well as SAG and mechanical and medical support along the way. All routes will travel alongside the beautiful country roads South Central Texas. Upon crossing the finish line, on both days, you will be invited to join us for lunch and dinner, to unwind in the massage tent and to enjoy live music and more. On Day 1, the routes start at Retama Park in San Antonio, TX and finish at Texas State University in San Marcos, TX.  On Day 2, we pick back up at Texas State University and finish at Akins High School in Austin, TX.T

Single Riders recieve $5 discount for early registration.

Routes:

100K: Hard and fast is the only way to describe this course. Crossing the Trinity River twice and flying through the bottomlands, you’ll find it hard to believe you’re still in Dallas County. This route is for seasoned riders. Before attempting this route, be sure you can cover the distance and get back to the rodeo grounds by 1:00PM.

75K: Watch out for alligators on this route as you travel on smooth flat roads through the unincorporated parts of Southern Dallas County. Be sure and stop at the new rest stop at the Historic Seagoville School near downtown Seagoville.

33K: The same route as in previous years, you’ll travel around the Mesquite area and Eastern Dallas County on a half flat, half hilly course with 2 rest stops.

24 Hours in the Canyon is a team or individual event in which participants can ride as far as their inspiration takes them.  Riders are encouraged to set a personal and/or team goal of the amount of time they will ride.

Beneficiaries: 90% of all funds raised from this event will be staying in Amarillo to help patients at The Don and Sybil Harrington Cancer Center

About the Race:

The ride will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2009, with all rides beginning at 8 A.M. Start and finish will be held at the CORYELL ACTIVITIES COMPLEX on Hwy. 84, just east of the intersection of TX Loop 36 and US Hwy. 84. There are highway signs to direct you to the Complex.

Lengths of rides include: 10-mile, 30-mile, 50-mile, and 100K (62.5 miles). All routes will be paved country roads. WE REQUIRE ALL PARTICIPANTS TO WEAR HELMETS AND SAFETY GEAR. Sag Stations will be provided. There are no repair facilities on site. We also strongly urge all riders to carry water bottles during the ride.
