Date: October 7, 2017
Event: 10th Annual Wheels and Heels for Meals
Route Distances: 88 miles
About the Ride:
On this Saturday, at 8:00 a.m., riders and their bicycles will line up in front of the Food Pantry of Jeff Davis County to ride to Valentine and back, up to an 88 mile ride! Not all riders will ride the entire length, some will do a partial course, but all riders will raise funds to support the Pantry’s efforts to provide supplemental food to 20% of our county’s residents. We will again have three different “tour” opportunities for you:
- The 10th Annual [Classic] Wheels for Meals – You can ride your bicycle the entire 88-mile route or any part thereof. We will support any effort you endeavor!
- The 5th Annual Princess Tour – You will again be treated as royalty while shuttled to your mountain top starting point and as you glide downhill on your bicycle to your finish about 17 miles away.
- The 4th Annual Heels for Meals – You will have an opportunity to walk or run 1,2 4, or 8 miles and we’ll support you just like one of our bicycle riders!
We will have volunteers manning the “Pit Stops”, placed about 15 miles apart, providing the cyclists and walkers needed respite, snacks, water and Gatorade. Lunch will be provided in Valentine, for those who make the long journey. At the end of the day, riders, walkers, volunteers, sponsors and guests are invited to the fabulous annual post-ride cook-out, where riders are rewarded with their “collectible ride dog tags” and will be treated to dishes from some of the best cooks in the area!
Stay tuned for more details and updated information.
